Xu to Touch on Fundraising, Investment Thesis, Current Investment Climate and Trends
Palo Alto, CA – April 28, 2022 – Early Growth, a leading Essential Business Services (EBS) provider, announced today the speaker for its May Meet the VC panel event to be held at 12 p.m. PT on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. The featured guest speaker will be Lisa Xu, principal at FirstMark Capital, a leading New York City-based early-stage fund, program, and community for B2B SaaS startups.
Meet the VC is a monthly panel event hosted by Early Growth and its partners. Every month, a prominent venture capitalist discusses their firm’s investment thesis, trends they’re seeing in the current investment climate, and more. It is held in an interview format hosted by Early Growth, followed by a Q&A session with attendees.
At FirstMark, Xu sources and evaluates new investments for the firm. She joined the investment team in 2018 and focuses on consumer technology and consumer facing Web3 applications and platforms. As a board observer, she also works closely with and supports FirstMark’s portfolio companies, including Workit Health, Loop Returns, and Simplist. Prior to joining FirstMark, Xu was a product manager at New York-based venture-backed startups Handy (acquired by ANGI Homeservices) and Peloton (NASDAQ: PTON). Previously, Xu was a senior associate consultant at Bain & Company, where she performed due diligence for private equity firms and advised Fortune 500 companies on corporate strategy.
Xu graduated summa cum laude from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of science in finance and management. She serves as a mentor for Techstars, NYU Entrepreneurship, and BLCK VC, a nonprofit organization that equips Black investors to accelerate their careers in venture capital.
